How to make a TikTok sticker from a GIF

1. Turn the GIF into a video. Drop it above and download the MP4. It is square, like a sticker, and short GIFs repeat in whole loops up to 3 seconds.
2. Post the video on TikTok. Upload it like any other video. A new post can take a minute before Create sticker shows up.
3. Create the sticker. Open the post, tap Share → Create sticker → Confirm → Create sticker. Keep the 3 seconds TikTok preselects.
4. Use it. The sticker appears in the Stickers tab on your profile, and you can add it in comments.

Why short GIFs repeat

TikTok preselects 3 seconds when you create a sticker. A 1.2 second GIF cut at 3 seconds would jump in the middle of a loop, so it becomes 2 loops (2.4 seconds) instead, and TikTok uses the whole video. GIFs longer than 3 seconds stay as they are; drag TikTok’s selection to the part you want, up to 5 seconds.

Video stickers and GIPHY stickers

TikTok has two kinds of stickers. GIPHY stickers are the ones you place on top of a video in the editor. Video stickers are made from your own posts with Create sticker; they show in your profile’s Stickers tab and in comments.
